Beach Boutique

Rebena recently read a fashion blog about Club Monaco’s annual “Beach Boutique”.  We read that it was beyond amazing – full of rich textures, with a big hints of edginess, all inspired by the bohemian spirit.

It’s been a long time since Rebena has stepped into a Club Monaco but I cannot tell you how super delighted we were when wandered inside.

This seasons theme felt very bohemian beach with a minimalist yet luxurious approach.

Although the luxury aspect has always been Club Monaco staples: cashmere and silks in muted tones or suede in tailored silhouettes.

Rebena’s visit felt so fresh with a heap of details that balanced itself perfectly between edgy and ’70s boho.

To put things simply, Club Monaco you’re killing it!

I can smell the salt water and feel the sunshine.  Take me to the beach already…

70’s Suede Skirts

Seventies style has been the biggest influence on trends this spring and the suede button-front skirt is no exception. This flirty silhouette has already been spotted on celebrities and street style mavens alike.

Taylor Swift goes to the Kelsey Edwards Photography Studio – FameFlynet Pictures

Taylor Swift was photographed out and about in West Hollywood dressed like a “daydream”.  The color and material of her skirt make it quintessentially 1970’s but the signature red lip and matching bag are classic Swift.

Suede skirts can be paired with a crop top for a weekend jaunt or with a demure blouse for a day in the office.  These skirts are simple yet fashion-forward garments that are perfect for spring’s transitional weather.

Hello Dream Boat

OctoberRinging in the month of October is dream boat, Sean O’Pry.  Yeah yeah, this is a dated Spring photoshoot, but you can’t help but agree that this may be one of the most magical photo magic of all time.  Supersonic stylist Way Perry is the actual dream boat here.  Check out Way Perry’s Instagram for mega fashion inspiration and heaps of seedy hilarity.  And Way, if you are out there listening, we’d love if you’d instagram a peek into your wardrobe.  We are willing to bet fat stacks that Way’s wardrobe takes you to a sort of cosmic Narnia, where you walk into a Labyrinth of fancy fashion freaks.  Not too deep inside the the wardrobe, we’d be greeted by Simon Doonan, dressed as the Queen of England of course, whom leads us onto a psychedelic boat ride.  We begin to trip on the hundreds fishnet clad legs rowing us away in unison.  Cue in the floaters.

There we go on again with our heads in the clouds.. or nosing in a stylists wardrobe.  Damn you dream boats.

Photographer Alexei Hay, stylist Way Perry and model Sean O’Pry teamed up for a editorial in GQ Germany.  Love the silhouettes and most importantly the fun factor.  I wish I could crawl into these photographs and play with the clothes and people behind it.
WardrobeHelloooo October!

Ugly Shoe Trend

4Welcome to the premier of “Wear It Wednesday” where we explore how to style garments that make us go “Hmmm“.  This week we focus on the “ugly” shoe trend that has been infesting the wonderful world of fashion.  The revival of the thick-soled, chunky leather-strapped beast is really happening folks.  The ugly shoe trend is not the most flattering silhouette for a shoe and some say its a symbol of not caring – but we cannot argue with the fact that being comfortable is sexy.  So let’s frumpify some feet and make this uncomely shoe look stylish.
Street Style

Tip #1: If you’re going to try this trend yourself know the experts say that pedicured feet are paramount to making sure the look is more stylish and less slovenly.  Perhaps the pretty pedicure is what will set you aside from the hippies, grandmothers and kayakers.

2Tip #2:  As you can imagine, a chunky sandal doesn’t exactly work the same leg-lengthening magic as a heel.  A dress that shows some skin or gives a semblance of your figure is ideal, as it balances the anti-allure of the sandal.
Tip #3:  Statement accessories will take some of pressure off those bold sandals.  Funky sunglasses, heavy jewelry or over-sized handbags will add more to an outfit than just a funky pair of shoes.

So will you be trading in your high-heeled gladiators for the ugly shoe trend this summer?  Let us know in the comments below!
