Haute Holidaze

It’s December and Christmas is only a week away.  Although we love our  velvets, jacquards and sequins – sometimes we just wanna be warm to beat the December chill.  Today we are drawing inspiration from our favorite cozy and effortless ensembles via Instagram.  After-all December is a month that feels (and looks) like one long, extended party.  These looks are suitable for each and friendly fêtes, winter walks and cookie swaps.

Cap It Off With A Cape

Blanket-like things aren’t just for your couch — they also come in stylish-cape form, like Eleonora Carisi’s.  This burgundy number looks just as good paired with miniskirts and knee-high boots as it does with your PJs.

The jeans-and-sweater outfit — our winter go-to — can sometimes feel a little schlepp-y. Layering a button-up underneath your knit will add instant polish. For work, swap the trainers for loafers and you’re golden.

Cozy & Polished

We’d have a pep in our step, too, if we were donning Valentina Siragusa’s outfit. Between her fluted skirt, metallic-gold Tory Burch crossbody, and Stella McCartney platform oxfords, there’s a lot to love.

Feeling Grungey

The snow is white washing the city and we’ve been sleeping in.  Fighting off the inevitable winter cold with hot tea and keeping cozy in 1960’s grunge.

Snowy Spring Trends

Winter.  The cool air is the perfect time for reflecting on the coziest trends.  Whether it’s bold new silhouettes or experimentation with new materials, we are so excited about the possibilities that designers have presented for Winter 2014 – early Spring 2015. Here is a short list of the coziest, cold weather trends of 2014/2015.

1Never thought you would be taking a sartorial cue from Hugh Hefner, did you?  This season, the house coat makes a major comeback. Everyone from Altuzarra to Richard Chai showed toppers that could double as bathrobes.

The ’60s are back in a major way. Maybe a bunch of designers got together and decided to binge-watch the latest season of Mad Men because we are seeing a lot of mini skirts, knee-high boots, and accessories that remind us of yesteryear. Whatever the reason, we’re happy that the ’60s are swinging back our way.
3For fall knits, nothing is too big or too intricate. And that’s the way we like it. From cozy pants at Marc Jacobs and Céline that promise to alleviate the need for tights, to similarly warm varieties at Stella McCartney, the sweater is no longer relegated to the top half.
4I like the idea of the oversize trend sticking around for fall mainly because it’s the best way to hide an extra few pounds. If this terrible winter has taught me anything, it’s that I am unwilling to trek to the gym in the snow. All hail bigger sweaters, pants, and coats. The bigger the better!
5Your feet can rejoice because they are officially getting a break from heels. Designers have declared sneakers as the footwear of the moment. Hopefully models will have surer footing down the runway moving forward. That would really make things go a lot faster.
